I struggled with if it is week one or week .5, but I will go with week 1. From April 1st- April 4th I have read several books, some replaced what was on my initial TBR.
Merlin- Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce- 3 stars- I really struggled to get through this book. Numair is one of my favorite characters in the Tortall books, but this book did not do him justice. The first 150-200 pages had me board to tears. The next maybe 50 pages were okay, with a token gay character which I felt was just pandering to the fan base. The last few chapters were action packed. Over all I felt that I have been waiting since the initial date this was supposed to be published for nothing. To put this into perspective this book was supposed to come out in 2008. There were grumblings of the book being written in 2003. The publishing date I first saw was 2011, I hoped it could be a going off to college book. Alas I am finished college, finished grad school, and have finally obtained this book. It was NOT worth the wait in my honest opinion.
Here is another bloggers more positive view on the long journey- https://www.tor.com/2018/02/15/tamora-pierce-the-numair-chronicles-15-year-wait-tempests-and-slaughter/
I love Tamora for the role she played in showing me BAMF female characters but it breaks my heart to read this book.
King Arthur- The Iron Queen by Kaitlin Bevis-FIVE STARS- I love this new adaptation of greek mythology. I am a bit obsessed right now! If you have not read Persephone go out and grab a copy!
Sir Bors- Daughter of Earth and Sky by Kaitlyn Bevis-FIVE STARS- Again, please please read Persephone! I love the slow burn between her and Hades. Also the angst is just enough.
Sir Gaheris- The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan- FIVE STARS- I listened to this on audiobook late last night before bed. I intend to re-read(or listen) as my brain was mush. Riordan never disappoints. If you like Percy Jackson go ahead and grab a copy.
Up next- I am reading Stalking Jack the Ripper and Aphrodite.
